As a maker, I tell everyone who buys jewelry to give their pieces a gentle cleaning semi regularly. If I’m being honest, though, I am probably the guiltiest of not cleaning my own pieces. I think the last time I cleaned my everyday rings was probably this summer … gross I know.

Today though I found a special treat for us deep in the bowels of my own jewelry collection. This necklace clearly has seen better days, and is in desperate need of cleaning. • Start of by giving your piece a nice gentle bath with warm, soapy water and use an old tooth brush to give it a good scrub.
• Then gently dry your piece off with a paper towel or cloth.
